Incidents of beating up daughter-in-law in in-laws' house when dowry demand was not met were common, but one such case has also come to light. Where mother-in-law, father-in-law and husband installed a hidden camera in the bedroom of the daughter-in-law to blackmail her when dowry demand was not met. When the daughter-in-law came to know about the camera installed in the bedroom, the matter reached the police station. After registering a case against the three accused, the police has started investigation.

Actually the whole matter is of Rataul village of Khekra Kotwali area. pushpa, who lives there, was married to Jitendra Kumar in roshan Vihar of Dayalpur police station area of Karawal nagar five years ago. In the marriage, the in-laws were given an Alto car, jewellery worth about Rs 25 lakh, goods and cash. Just a few months after marriage, husband Jitendra Kumar, father-in-law Sundarpal, mother-in-law Rajwati, sister-in-law reena started demanding dowry from Pushpa. Money was demanded by saying that Jitendra needs Rs 10 lakh for studying Panchkarma medicine.

What did the victim pushpa say?

Victim pushpa gave a complaint to the police and told that when the dowry demand was not met, she started being harassed in her in-laws' house. The accused also started beating her. Her father-in-law started staring at her. Many times she brought one lakh rupees from her maternal home, but the accused's demand continued. Mother-in-law, father-in-law and husband installed a hidden camera in her bedroom to blackmail her, so that they could see her unwanted videos and blackmail her and ask for money from her.

Case registered against all three accused

pushpa told that on the evening of 19 september 2024, when she came to know about the hidden camera installed in the bedroom, her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law beat her up. When the dowry demand was not met, her husband started having illicit relations with other girls. When she protested, the accused husband started beating her. ASP NP Singh said that on the complaint of pushpa, a case has been registered against the accused and investigation has been started. Action will be taken according to whatever facts will come out during the investigation.
