Just before the assembly elections in maharashtra, the fares of private buses running on different routes of the state have been increased. According to the information, thousands of voters are planning to go to their constituency to vote in the upcoming assembly elections, due to which the fare has increased in view of the crowd. According to a PTI report, travel booking agents and bus operators said that ticket prices on routes connecting mumbai and Western maharashtra, Konkan, Marathwada and North maharashtra have almost doubled for november 19 and 20.

Private bus fares doubled before maharashtra elections

A travel booking agent from Dadar said that after Diwali, ticket rates on routes like Mumbai-Kolhapur had come down by Rs 500 to Rs 700, but have almost doubled before the elections. Harsh Kotak, leader of the private bus operators' association, said, "Around 5,000 private buses are expected to reach various parts of maharashtra, except the Vidarbha region, on the polling day." He further said, "On the eve of polling day, these buses will leave for destinations like Ratnagiri, Dapoli, Lanja, Mahad, Rajapur, Kolhapur, Gadhinglaj, Jalgaon, Dhule, Beed, Parali, Latur, Malkapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nashik. These buses will also bring migrants back to Mumbai."

Most bookings on november 19 and 20

According to bus operators and booking agents, most of these buses have been arranged either by the candidates or their respective political parties. He said, "However, a large number of people are also traveling to their native places in their individual capacity to cast their vote. A bus operator said, "Mostly, there is group booking for november 19 and november 20."
