In her first election, 52-year-old Congresswoman priyanka gandhi Vadra defeated sathyan Mokeri of the communist party of india (CPI) by a margin of 4,10,931 votes in Saturday's wayanad Lok Sabha by-election. This summer, she outnumbered rahul gandhi by 364,000 votes. rahul gandhi received 431,000 votes to win the wayanad seat in 2019. rahul gandhi resigned the seat and kept Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh), the second seat he ran for, forcing a by-election in Wayanad.
With 622,338 votes, or over 65% of the total, priyanka gandhi Vadra won. The congress gained more than five percent of the vote. Mokeri received 2,11,407 votes, while Navya Haridas of the bharatiya janata party (BJP) received 1,09,939. The vote shares of the bjp and cpi fell by 1.5% and 4%, respectively.
