Why is the defeat in jharkhand being discussed less?
All the trends have come out on 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has taken a lead in more than 200 seats, due to which their government is considered certain to be formed in the state. On the other hand, the Congress-led Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) is leading in about 50 seats. At the same time, BJP missed out on gaining power in jharkhand this time too. hemant Soren's jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is set to return to power. Out of 81 assembly seats, the JMM-Congress alliance has taken a lead in 50 seats. This figure is 9 more than the 41 seats required for a majority.
The defeat in jharkhand may be a temporary setback for the bjp, but the victory in maharashtra is a major strategic and political achievement for the party. The success in maharashtra shows the strength of the bjp in national politics and further increases the party's confidence for the upcoming elections.
State with the most seats after UP
Maharashtra is the second largest political state in the country after Uttar Pradesh, with the highest number of lok sabha (48 seats) and assembly (288) seats. This state is important not only on the basis of area and population, but its political equations also affect national politics.
In the 2019 lok sabha elections, bjp and Shiv Sena ogether performed well in Maharashtra. But in the 2024 lok sabha elections, BJP suffered a major setback. Out of 48 lok sabha seats, bjp had won 23 seats in 2019, but in 2024 this figure came down to 9. This decline was considered to be the result of the alliance breaking and the strong strategy of the opposition.
However, now BJP has made a great comeback in the maharashtra assembly elections. In this assembly election, a direct contest was seen between bjp and congress on 76 seats. But the congress alliance was reduced to 50 seats. BJP weakened the opposition by working on its alliance strategy and grassroots level. The Mahayuti alliance (BJP, Shiv Sena-Shinde faction and NCP-Ajit Pawar faction) gained lead in more than 200 seats.
Actually there are 288 seats in the maharashtra Legislative assembly, many of which are divided between urban and rural voters. bjp has a strong influence in urban areas, while parties like congress and ncp have traditionally had a strong hold in rural areas. But this time bjp and Mahayuti have strengthened their hold in rural areas as well, which has increased the challenge for the opposition.
