The historic victory of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in maharashtra will have a big impact on the rajya sabha as well. The rajya sabha is the upper house of the indian Parliament, its members are elected by the elected members of the state assemblies. In the rajya sabha elections, members are selected by the votes of the MLAs. To win every rajya sabha seat, the candidate needs to get a minimum first-preference vote. If the number of assembly seats is divided by the rajya sabha seats, then a candidate will need the support of about 37 MLAs.
