Odisha's former ruling party Biju Janata Dal has denied any involvement of the then BJD government or its party in the adani Group bribery case. The party has issued a clarification regarding this. Biju Janata Dal has said that the allegations of state government officials taking bribe from adani Group for supplying renewable energy to the state from the central pool are false and baseless. Biju Janata Dal has been in power in odisha from the year 2000 to june 2024.

Former Energy minister of odisha and BJD mla Pratap Keshari Dev issued a press release on behalf of the party saying that the allegations leveled in the name of odisha are baseless and not based on facts. The odisha government has nothing to do with this agreement. The power purchase agreements that were signed were between the central government venture Solar Energy Corporation of india Limited (SECI) as well as the state government PSU Gridco and the distribution company. The state government had no role in all these matters, although the state administration was informed about the Power Sale Agreement (PSA).

The BJD has also said that the agreement between the two government entities was between SECI and the state PSU. The agreement to purchase 500 MW of renewable energy was made due to the lower rate of SECI and there was no involvement of any private party in this, be it adani Group or anyone else.
