India's Ministry of External Affairs yesterday gave information on the allegations of bribery leveled by the US Justice Department on the adani Group. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir jaiswal said that no request has been received from the US to summon the adani Group in the bribery case. He also said that the allegations leveled against the top executives of the adani Group are a matter between the US Justice Department with private firms and individuals.

In the weekly press briefing, Randhir jaiswal said that there are established procedures and legal routes through which what action is to be taken on the matter depends and india also hopes to find a way forward in this matter through the same correct process. He also said that the government of india was not given any information in advance in this matter.

What is the whole process?

If a foreign government issues summons or arrest warrants for indian citizens, there is a complete legal process to look into it which runs under mutual understanding and legal assistance between the two countries. Such applications/recommendations are served on merit and we have not received any such request from the US.

Randhir jaiswal said that this matter is between private individuals and private entities and the Central Government/Government of india is not involved in any way in its investigation process or any other action at any point at this time. At the same time, in its latest reply, the adani Group has again termed the allegations of bribery leveled by the US Securities and Exchange Commission as false.
