Former bjp mp Pragya Singh Thakur, accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, has got some relief from the Special NIA court in Mumbai. The special court has suspended the bail warrant issued against her as she is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. The latest warrant against pragya thakur was issued on november 13. It was returnable on december 2, which means the former lok sabha mp from bhopal had to appear in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases court on that date to get the warrant cancelled. However, she did not appear in court on monday (December 2).

According to a PTI report, the prosecution filed a report on the bail warrant issued against accused pragya thakur, a native of Madhya Pradesh. After perusing the report, the court said that the bail warrant has been returned without serving it as Thakur was not found at her residential address. Upon enquiry, the NIA officer carrying the warrant found that he was undergoing treatment at a hospital in meerut, UP.
Hearing in Malegaon blast case in final stage
The court said that therefore, for the time being it (bailable warrant) should be kept in abeyance till further orders. Pragya Singh Thakur, who is out on bail in the case, has sought exemption from court appearance on several occasions citing illness. The NIA court is currently in the final stage of hearing in the 16-year-old blast case and is recording the final statements of the accused.

Let us tell you that on september 29, 2008, 6 people were killed in a blast in an explosive device tied to a motorcycle near a mosque in Malegaon, a city in North Maharashtra, about 200 km from Mumbai. More than 100 people were also injured in this incident. Pragya Singh Thakur, army officer Lt Col prasad Purohit and five others are facing trial for their alleged involvement. The case was investigated by Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) before being transferred to the NIA in 2011.
