Ahead of the much-anticipated visit of congress leader rahul gandhi to Sambhal, security arrangements at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border have been tightened, leading to a significant disruption in traffic. The border area has been transformed into a virtual cantonment, with the Uttar Pradesh police deploying heavy forces and implementing strict barricading measures.
As rahul Gandhi's convoy approached the border, it was stopped by authorities at the Ghazipur border. The move caused a massive traffic jam, with vehicles stranded on both sides of the UP Gate due to the barricades. congress workers and supporters gathered in large numbers, expressing their discontent over the situation. Despite the setback, congress leader supriya Shrinet emerged from the car, walking alongside the public in a show of solidarity.
Amethi mp Kishori Lal, who was part of the convoy, strongly condemned the actions, labeling it as "the murder of democracy." His statement echoed the frustration among congress leaders and supporters, who have expressed concerns about the political implications of such actions.
Before rahul gandhi reached the border, senior police officials including DCP Nimish Patil and ACP Indirapuram Swatantra Kumar Singh held discussions with the Special Protection Group (SPG) to ensure proper arrangements for security. However, the heavy police presence, alongside the barricading, has sparked controversy, with many viewing it as an attempt to stifle political dissent.
