Reportedly the stir has started intensifying regarding the assembly elections to be held in delhi next year. All political parties have started preparing for the elections. Meanwhile, big news has come from the Aam Aadmi Party. Shahdara assembly constituency mla and delhi assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goyal has refused to contest the elections this time. Regarding this, he has written a letter to party convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Meanwhile Ramniwas Goyal wrote in the letter, 'I humbly want to inform you that for the last 10 years, I have efficiently performed my duty as the mla and assembly Speaker of Shahdara Assembly. You have always given me a lot of respect, for which I will always be grateful to you. The party and all the MLAs have also given me a lot of respect. For this I express my gratitude to everyone. " He wrote, "Due to my age, I want to separate myself from electoral politics. I assure you that I will continue to serve with body, mind and money by staying in the Aam Aadmi Party. Whatever responsibility is entrusted to me by you, I will try to fulfill it."
Moreover if we talk about Shahdara assembly seat, Ramniwas Goyal has won the election twice in a row on the ticket of Aam Aadmi Party. In the 2020 assembly elections, Ramniwas Goyal defeated bjp candidate Sanjay Goyal by 5294 votes. Earlier in the 2015 elections, Goyal had won by 58 thousand 523 votes. In the 2013 elections, BJP's jitendra singh Shanti won the Shahdara seat. Earlier in the year 1993, Ramniwas Goyal had won on bjp ticket. After this, bjp could not win this seat for 15 years. Dr. narendra Nath of congress won here in 1998, 2003 and 2008.
