7 people lost their lives and about fifty people were injured in the BEST bus accident in Kurla, Mumbai. But the question is how did such a big accident happen. The answer to this question has been given by the accused Sanjay More during police interrogation. According to police sources, the accused Sanjay More in the Kurla bus accident case mistakenly put his foot on the accelerator instead of the clutch of the bus. Sanjay had no experience of driving heavy vehicles, earlier Sanjay used to drive a mini bus. These buses had clutch, brake and accelerator. Similarly, after 10 days of training, Sanjay was directly given a big bus to drive.
Pressed accelerator instead of clutch
At the time of the accident, he mistook the clutch for the accelerator and put his foot on the accelerator, due to which the bus sped up instead of stopping. Seeing the crowd on the road where the accident happened, Sanjay moved forward and hit the bus against the safety wall to stop the uncontrolled bus.
The accused is in custody till december 21
Let us tell you that the BEST undertaking constituted a committee on tuesday to investigate the bus accident in Kurla area of Mumbai. Meanwhile, a court here has sent the bus driver to police custody till december 21. BEST, run by Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika (BMC), said in a release that the families of the deceased will be given a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each. According to BEST, the investigation committee will be headed by Chief Manager (Transport) Ramesh Madavi. BEST will also bear the cost of treatment of the persons injured in the accident.
Demand for compensation of Rs 10 lakh each
Meanwhile, a delegation of bjp met BEST General Manager Anil Diggikar and demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to Rs 2 lakh to the injured.
