On completion of 500 days of the Bhoomi Bachao Andolan going on in Bajpur area of Udham Singh nagar district of Uttarakhand, farmers and their families demonstrated in a unique way. Farmers took out a procession from the tehsil premises playing thali, clapping and canister.
Farmers were agitating since august 1, 2023 in protest against the land rights of sugar on 5838 acres of land of 20 villages of Bajpur tehsil area of Udham Singh nagar district. On completion of 500 days of the movement, farmers and their families gathered in the tehsil premises from where they took out a procession of about 500 meters playing clapping thali and canister. During this, the farmers attacked the government and said that the government is sleeping like Kumbhakarna, perhaps that is why they are not able to see our problem.
Addressing the farmers, State President of Bharatiya Kisan Union, Karam Singh Padda said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has assured me six times in a row in this regard that your problem will be resolved soon, but the problem has not been resolved yet. He said that our demands are being ignored by the cm, which is not a good thing.
"Government made promises to farmers and forgot"
Farmer leader Jagtar Singh Bajwa, while addressing the farmers, said that the government made promises many times to solve this problem of the farmers, but those who made promises forgot them. Due to which today the farmers have been forced to come on the road and try to wake up the government sleeping in Kumbhakaran's sleep by clapping thali and playing Kantar. He said that such neglect of the farmers will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
