Before the delhi assembly elections, delhi police has started arresting criminals. In this episode, the police has arrested 415 wanted criminals including 81 fugitive criminals between december 1 and 15 under 'Operation Crackdown' in the North West district of the national capital.
North West delhi Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP) abhishek Dhania said that more than 1,500 policemen were involved in this 15-day campaign and its aim is to curb criminal activities and ensure public safety before the upcoming assembly elections. The officer said that the teams have arrested 81 fugitives and criminals who absconded after getting parole.

DCP Dhania said that the target of this campaign was to catch people involved in theft, robbery and other serious crimes. During this, 21 people associated with organized crime were caught, including people involved in liquor smuggling, gambling, narcotics and street crimes.
53 minors also arrested
The DCP further said that during the operation, 61 people were arrested in drug trafficking cases and 53 minors wanted in various cases were apprehended, out of which 18 were involved in heinous crimes. He said that social media accounts of 67 boys were deactivated to curb the glorification of criminal activities through online forums. Apart from this, 22 illegal weapons and cartridges were seized and 15 people were arrested. The DCP also said that preventive measures were taken against 81 people involved in Arms Act cases. The officer said that the district police arrested 31 people while investigating 44 cases of cyber fraud and 55 people in 73 cases of snatching.
