Maharashtra's Matunga police has arrested nine people including eight women involved in the interstate child trafficking racket spread across Mumbai, gujarat and Karnataka. Among these arrested women, a 32-year-old woman sold her own child for Rs 1 lakh. The woman told that she sold her daughter because she did not have money to get her husband bailed out. The police took this action after the complaint of the woman's mother-in-law.

According to officials, the husband of the pregnant woman, who was arrested by the Railway police in a theft case, discussed the need for bail money with the woman during a meeting in Byculla jail. After this, she allegedly decided to sell her child to raise money. The woman sold her child for about Rs 1 lakh.

Action taken on the complaint of the woman's mother-in-law

However, when her mother-in-law came to know about this, she immediately informed the police. Based on the complaint, the Matunga police launched an investigation and searched for the child in several places including Ulhasnagar, Surat, vadodara and Karnataka. The police team then arrested eight middlemen allegedly involved in the transaction.

Those arrested include Sulochana suresh Kamble (45), meera Rajaram Yadav (40), yogesh Bhoir (37), Roshni Ghosh (34), sandhya Rajput (48), Madina alias Munni Imam Chavan (44), Tainaaz shaheen Chauhan (19), Baby Moinuddin Tamboli (50) and Manisha Sunny Yadav (32). A senior police officer said, "Through technical investigation we traced the suspects and arrested them on Monday. Also, the child has been rescued and is now with us. We are trying to trace the person who bought the child. The accused were produced in court and sent to police custody for further investigation."
