Reportedly during the discussion on '75 years of glorious journey of indian Constitution' in Lok Sabha, Samajwadi party mp Iqra Hasan thanked the constitution makers. During her address in Parliament, she said that I salute the farsightedness of those who made the Constitution. Samajwadi party mp from Kairana Iqra Hasan said that I want to connect my hopes with the Constitution and especially tell that today the backward, Dalit, minority communities of the country have to face difficulties every day to protect their constitutional rights and freedom.
When referring to the statement of baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Iqra Hasan said, "Today it seems that the book of Constitution is there but the faith of those who run it has been lost." He further said, "Today, every section of the country is facing some challenge or the other. But the havoc that has been wreaked on the minority community, especially the Muslims, is not hidden from anyone. These people are being targeted only because of their religious identity." SP mp Iqra Hasan, citing Article 15, said, "The Constitution says that no citizen of the country should be discriminated against on the basis of religion, caste or any other reason, but the reality is exactly the opposite." He claimed that "the situation in the country has deteriorated to such an extent that incidents of hate speech, mob lynching, demolition of houses through bulldozers have become common. Especially in Uttar Pradesh, where it seems that jungle raj is going on in the name of law."
Moreover during her address, Iqra Hasan also raised the issue of sambhal violence. She said, "What happened in sambhal is in front of everyone, innocent people were killed under the protection of the police and the government maintained complete silence. Violence against minorities is increasing continuously, but the people in power are either turning a blind eye or encouraging these incidents. The limit is crossed when even the judiciary is ignored." Taking a dig at the bjp government, Iqra Hasan said, "The supreme court had issued 11-point instructions on mob lynching, in which it is clearly stated that the state governments and the police are responsible for preventing such incidents and taking strict action against the culprits. The situation is such that even today these instructions are not being implemented." She said, "The situation is such that the people in power are adding fuel to the fire, such things come out of their mouths that promote hatred further. This unrest has now spread so deeply that serious questions are being raised on the secular character of our society."
