As per report a huge uproar was witnessed in the Law Faculty of delhi university on monday night. The lathi charge on the protesting students led to a stampede. The police also fired tear gas shells on the students. The students' protest was going on outside the Dean's office since morning. Till night, there was a deadlock on the students' demands. The protesters were adamant on the demand of postponing the examination. During the protest, the students closed the gate of the faculty and stopped Dean Dr. Anju Wali Tikku from going out.
Meanwhile the Dean called the police for help. The police reached the spot and lathi-charged the protesting students and also fired tear gas shells. delhi university Student Union President Raunak Khatri says, "Despite 14 hours of protest, there was no hearing. The students had gathered for the protest on my request. delhi university does not listen without protest." He told that the students were protesting peacefully in the campus. At night, the protesting students were told that the Dean would be freed after the circular is issued.
Moreover the president of all three law faculties appealed to the dean to postpone the exams. He said that the syllabus was not completed due to the delay in the appointment of the faculty. At 12 midnight, a notification was issued that the exams are being held. Even now the exams have not been postponed. At night, policemen entered the campus and lathicharged and released tear gas. ABP news also spoke to the protesting students. Aditya, a student of the law faculty, says that the protest was going on outside the dean's office since 10 am. The university administration was being informed that the syllabus was not completed for the last 10 days. Difficulties in filling the form were also being cited. The university administration did not resolve the problem. In response, it was said that a committee would be formed.
