Child labour is a serious problem in India
Child labour is a serious social problem in which children are forced to work due to economic reasons or exploitation, instead of getting their education and participating in sports and other children's activities. Child labour usually occurs in hazardous industries, such as textile industry, mining, construction work, domestic help, and farms. It has a negative impact on the physical, mental and social development of children.
To prevent child labour in India, the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 has been implemented, which prohibits children from working in hazardous tasks. It is completely illegal for children below the age of 14 to work, and children between 14 and 18 years are allowed to work only in non-hazardous jobs. Apart from this, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and other organizations work to spread awareness against child labour and strictly enforce the laws.
