Reportedly there is a possibility of large-scale fluctuations in the weather in delhi during the last 10 days of the year. The Meteorological Department has issued a fog alert for december 21 and 22. On saturday, the minimum temperature in delhi is expected to be 8 and the maximum temperature 23. There is a possibility of rain on the beginning of the last week of this year i.e. on december 26. The effect of fog and haze will be seen in delhi till the end of the year. According to the delhi Real Time air Quality Index, there has been a partial decrease in AQI as compared to Saturday. Despite this, pollution in most areas of delhi still remains in the very poor category. On saturday morning, the highest AQI was recorded at 367 in Sukhdev vihar and 362 in Alipur.
Perhaps the 24 hour average air quality index (AQI) in delhi on friday was recorded at 429, which falls in the "severe" category. It had a high amount of PM 2.5, which is a fine particulate matter and poses a serious threat to health. Out of 36 monitoring centers in delhi, 14 recorded air quality levels in the 'very severe' category, with AQI above 450. At the remaining centers, the AQI level was recorded in the 'severe' category between 401 and 450. Even today, there is little hope of getting much relief from pollution.
Moreover Delhi's air quality continues to be a matter of concern, which becomes even more serious during winter due to low wind speed. According to the Phased Response Action Plan (GRAP), the air quality of the capital is currently under the third stage (severe), where the AQI ranges between 401 to 450. The india Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted dense fog over the weekend, which may further deteriorate the visibility and the already dangerous air quality may worsen further.
