NGT i.e. National Green Tribunal has given a big decision regarding the availability and purity of Gangajal during the Mahakumbh in Sangam city Prayagraj. NGT has told the government that there should be adequate availability of Gangajal in Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh and at the same time the quality of Gangajal should be suitable for drinking, sipping and bathing. The division bench of NGT has ordered compliance of eight major points in its 30-page order and has asked the central and UP government to comply with all these points. NGT has said in its decision that the devotees who come to Prayagraj to take a dip of faith during the Mahakumbh should not have any problem with Gangajal.

There should be no adverse effect on the health of devotees on taking a dip of faith in the Ganga. NGT has said in its decision that there should be zero discharge of sewage in the ganga and yamuna rivers during the Mahakumbh. Dirty water from drains and tanneries should not fall at all.
