Reportedly Bahujan Samaj party and Samajwadi party were once considered the most important in the political arena of Uttar Pradesh, but after the formation of bjp government, BSP is going through its weakest phase. BSP supremo mayawati is trying to save the existence of the party. Talking about kanpur city, the command of the district has been handed over to different district presidents 6 times in a year, but the strength that was expected could not be achieved.

Perhaps despite the number of Dalit voters being quite good in kanpur, BSP is once again having to work hard to establish its status, but its effect is not visible on the ground. In the recent UP by-election, elections were held on Sisamau seat of kanpur, but BSP remained at third place in it. BSP not only remained at third place but only 1300 votes came in the party's account. Which was a very poor performance for BSP. Angered by these results, the top leadership has once again changed its district president and has handed over the command to new captain Jaiprakash after removing Rajkumar Captain. BSP has also changed the district president six times in a year to gather its old strength but the result was not as mayawati had expected.

Furthermore if we talk about the previous elections in kanpur, whether it is lok sabha or assembly or small elections, there was a time when BSP had a strong existence in the state as well as in the city. But, now mayawati, who has been in charge of UP four times, has been continuously losing seats. BSP has not been able to perform well in kanpur city either. Apart from the election results, when BSP announces any protest, huge crowds of BSP supporters are seen but, its effect is not visible in the election and neither is the vote percentage of the party increasing. From the lok sabha election to the Sisamau by-election, BSP had also fielded its candidate but neither was the candidate seen among the public during the election nor did any special campaigning take place. At present, the diminishing existence of BSP in kanpur can be seen by constantly adding new names to the district heads and their responsibilities, but why is the party not able to show any miracle even after changing six district heads in a year? This has further increased the worries of BSP.
