A thane court on thursday sent the main accused in the kidnapping and murder of a 12-year-old girl to police custody till january 2 next year. Officials said that the main accused vishal Gawli was brought here in the morning after being arrested from Buldhana district of maharashtra on wednesday and kept in Naupada police station.
Deputy Commissioner of police Atul Zende said that the accused was produced in the kalyan District court, where Justice VA Patravale sent him to police custody till january 2. Officials said that the police have arrested the main accused vishal Gawli, his wife and another person in the case of kidnapping and murder of the girl. He said that the girl's body was found in a village near her hometown kalyan in thane district on Tuesday.
Allegedly kidnapped the girl with the help of wife
police said that the kalyan court extended the police custody period of sakshi Gawli till january 2 on Thursday. He said vishal Gawli with the help of his wife allegedly kidnapped the girl and killed her in Chakki Naka area of Kalyan. police did not say why and how the girl was killed.
According to police, the couple took the body in an autorickshaw and dumped it at Bapgaon on Kalyan-Padgha Road. He said vishal was seen buying a bottle of liquor at Aadharwadi Chowk in kalyan after committing the crime. He said to evade police, he fled to Buldhana, from where he was arrested on Wednesday. He said the motive behind the murder is not yet clear. police have so far questioned about 10 people, including relatives and friends of the accused. A crime branch official told PTI that vishal Gawli was arrested from Shegaon in Buldhana on wednesday and was brought here around 6 am on Thursday.
