The sound of VRS i.e. Voluntary Retirement service is being heard again in bharat sanchar nigam limited (BSNL), a company under the country's Department of Telecommunications. If this happens, then this will be the second time when employees will be reduced in the company through VRS. It has been learned that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has decided to increase the proposal of this VRS.

This news has been revealed according to the report of Economic Times. It has been told in it that the government company bsnl is going to reduce 35 percent of its total workforce. Under this, a total of 18,000 to 19,000 employees of the company can be reduced so that the balance sheet of the company can be strengthened. The government official has also told that bsnl needs Rs 15,000 crore from the Finance Ministry to complete the process of this VRS and to implement this plan.

The company is trying to reduce the expenditure on employees

At present, bsnl is spending a total of Rs 7500 crore to pay the salaries of its employees and this is 38 percent of the total revenue. The company wants to reduce this amount to a total expenditure of Rs 5000 crore. Actually, the company is going to put a proposal in front of the Ministry of Communications to reduce its staff, which will be sent for the approval of the cabinet after getting the approval of the Finance Ministry.

The company did not give any official statement

However, a senior official of the company has said that internal discussions are currently going on on BSNL's VRS plan and no concrete decision has been taken yet. At present, no official answer has been given by bsnl to the questions asked to the company in this regard. However, it is also reported that on Monday, the board of bsnl has approved the VRS program to reduce the salary bill of its employees.
