Continuous rain, hailstorm and snow in nainital and its surrounding areas of uttarakhand for the last 24 hours has badly affected the life of the people. The weather remained bad throughout the day on Saturday, due to which normal life was disrupted. The severe cold has increased due to rain and hailstorm in the lake city, while a sharp drop in temperature has been recorded due to snow flakes falling in the high altitude areas.

Tourists who reached nainital in the hope of seeing snowfall have been disappointed. There was intermittent rain and hailstorm in the city throughout the day, but there was no snowfall. Tourists who arrived with the hope of snowfall kept heading towards high altitude areas like naina Peak and Snow View, but they were disappointed there too. Due to rain, boating in Naini Lake remained completely halted, while there was silence in the markets as well. The work of daily wage laborers was affected and people came out of their homes only for essential work. Continuous rain and cold forced the local people to hide in their homes.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of nainital was recorded at 11 degrees and minimum at 4 degrees Celsius. Humidity was maximum 95 percent and minimum 60 percent. 25 mm of rain was recorded, which further increased the cold. Dr. Rohit Thapliyal, scientist at the Meteorological Center, said that the effect of Western Disturbance will end by sunday evening and the weather is likely to improve.
