A major incident took place in Chamba district of himachal pradesh on december 31, a night before New Year. Two policemen have been accused of killing a hotel manager in Chamba. Both the accused policemen have been arrested, whose names are said to be Anoop Kumar and amit Kumar. Both the accused are constables in Chamba Police. At the same time, the deceased has been identified as Rajendra Kumar of Chamba.
According to news agency PTI, the incident took place on the night of 31 december 2024, when three policemen reached a hotel located in Banikhet during the party. Two of those three policemen got into an argument with the hotel manager and a staff member. Amidst the clash, Rajendra Kumar, policeman Anoop Kumar and Sachin fell down from the hotel and all three suffered serious injuries.
The relatives of the deceased had blocked the highway
Seriously injured hotel manager Rajendra Kumar died while Anoop Kumar and Sachin suffered fractures. After this incident, the angry family members of Rajendra Kumar protested against the police and the demand for action against the culprits intensified. Many people including the victim's family blocked the Pathankot-Chamba National Highway. Traffic was disrupted here for several hours.
After SP Chama abhishek Yadav assured action, the family ended the protest and the highway was opened. The Superintendent of police informed that the accused policemen have been suspended. At the same time, the injured main accused Anoop Kumar will be arrested after getting discharged from the hospital.
CCTV footage revealed the clash
SP abhishek Yadav said that the accused policemen are posted in Chamba and were deployed in Dalhousie amid security arrangements on New Year. While returning from duty, he stayed at a hotel where this incident took place. CCTV footage of the case has been examined in which it can be seen that there was a clash between the hotel staff and the policemen. Further investigation is going on in the case.
