Reportedly Medical and health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar has said that some cases of Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV) have been reported in some states of the country. There is no need to panic about this. rajasthan Minister Khinvsar said, "According to medical experts, this virus has been present since the year 2001 but its effect on patients has been normal. There has been no case of death or any worrying situation due to this virus.''

Meanwhile he further said, ''Like every year, in view of the winter season, children, elderly, pregnant women and people suffering from serious diseases should consult doctors in the hospital in case of cold, cough, fever etc.'' He said that a video conference was organized by the Union Ministry of health and Family Welfare with the health secretaries of all the states on monday regarding this virus, where it was told that this is not a fatal virus. Usually some cases of this virus have been coming up in the winter season with common symptoms like cough and cold.

Moreover the health Minister of rajasthan also said that according to the Central Government, the spread of HMP virus is negligible at present. But as a precaution, instructions have been given to medical officers across the state to be alert and vigilant. They have also been asked to ensure other necessary preparations including investigation, treatment. Giving information, he further said, "Currently, 5 VRDL labs are available in the state for authentic testing of this virus in AIIMS Jodhpur, Sawai Mansingh Hospital Jaipur, RNT Medical college Udaipur, Sardar patel Medical college Bikaner and SN Medical college Jodhpur. If a serious patient with symptoms of this virus is found in any hospital, then the test can be conducted in these labs."
