The customs team at Delhi's indira gandhi international airport (IGI Airport) has succeeded in uncovering a major case of cocaine smuggling. Customs has arrested a foreign drug smuggler, from whom a total of 897 grams of cocaine worth 13 crore 45 lakhs has been recovered.

34 capsules of cocaine recovered

The customs intelligence team has detained a foreign national on 26 december on suspicion of smuggling narcotics. A Brazilian national, who arrived at Terminal 3 of delhi airport by flight number AF453, was caught when he was crossing the green channel and heading towards the exit gate.

On the basis of his suspicious behavior, the customs team stopped him and conducted a detailed investigation. 34 capsules were recovered during his personal investigation. When he was questioned thoroughly about this, he revealed that he had swallowed capsules filled with cocaine.

57 more capsules recovered after medical procedure

After the disclosure by this person who came from Brazil, the customs team took him into custody. After this, he was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was kept under medical supervision and a total of 57 more capsules containing white powder were removed through medical procedure. A total of 897 grams of white powder was recovered from these 91 capsules, which was confirmed to be cocaine after examination.

Air passenger arrested                  

The value of the recovered cocaine in the international market is said to be Rs 13 crore 45 lakh. It has been seized and the accused air passenger has been arrested under the NDPS Act and smuggling charges. The customs team is conducting further investigation in this case.
