After the accident caused by the collapse of the lintel of the under-construction building at the railway station in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, the relief and rescue operation lasted for about 16 hours and the teams engaged in this operation returned on sunday morning. Officials gave this information.
According to the police, more than 20 workers were buried under the debris after the lintel of a two-storey building under construction at Kannauj railway station under the Amrit Bharat Yojana collapsed on Saturday. However, there is no news of any casualties in the accident.
The police said that in the relief and rescue operation that lasted for about 16 hours, 28 workers were pulled out of the debris and admitted to the hospital. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team and the railway team were engaged in the rescue operation throughout the night on saturday and removed the entire debris.
Rescue team went back
Railway officials said that after removing the debris, no worker was found buried, after which the rescue operation was stopped on sunday morning and the teams engaged in this work went back. Railway officials remained present at the spot throughout the night during the operation. Kannauj district Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla reached the railway station in the morning and took stock of the situation again. He also expressed satisfaction that there was no loss of life in this accident. Shukla said that 16 injured have been discharged from the hospital while other injured are undergoing treatment. He said that the railway will provide financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the seriously injured workers and Rs 50,000 each to the people who were injured normally.
