The district Magistrate said, "Our first priority is to rescue the workers trapped in the debris. We are using all the resources available to us for rescue operations." Shukla had reached the spot along with other senior officials to monitor the rescue operation. He said that strict action will be taken against the culprits of the accident. The district Magistrate said that teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are also engaged in relief work. The district Magistrate said that the Railways has sent a rescue team to Kannauj station in a special train with two coaches. Machines and equipment used in relief and rescue work have been sent after the accident. He said that the dog squad has also been called on the spot. No person has died in this accident so far.
kanpur Divisional Commissioner Vijayendra Pandian also reached Kannauj and took stock of the accident at the railway station. The Commissioner said that so far 28 people have been evacuated, out of which six people are seriously injured, but they are out of danger. They have been admitted to Medical college Tirwa where they are being treated. kanpur Divisional Commissioner said, "I myself am in touch with the Principal of the Medical College. None of the injured is in danger and no one has suffered serious injuries."
He said, "The work of removing the debris is still going on. All the debris is being removed so that no worker is buried." He said that this accident happened due to negligence in shuttering. An inquiry committee has been formed. The whole situation will become clear only after the investigation. Mahesh Kumar, one of the people present at the spot, said that he narrowly escaped. Mahesh said, "As soon as concrete was poured on the shuttering, it suddenly fell. All the people sitting on it fell. I was standing on the edge and somehow escaped." The injured have been sent to the nearest district hospital and Kanpur's Hallet Hospital. Relief and rescue operations are underway.
