Many important development works are being done through the Municipal Corporation under the Smart City scheme in aligarh, but reports of corruption are coming out with the connivance of some officials in these works. Many officials are earning huge money illegally under the guise of development works of Smart City being built in view of the facilities of the common people.
A living example of such alleged corruption can be seen in the work of pond beautification. The Municipal Corporation had taken a big initiative regarding the beautification of the pond, but in this project, the officials and contractors together earned huge money by illegally selling soil worth lakhs of rupees. This scam was exposed when this issue was raised in the board meeting. After which there was an uproar. In the meeting, all the members demanded strict action by investigating the purchase and sale of soil. This matter has raised a question mark on the work being done under the Smart City scheme.
What is the matter?
In fact, the officers of the Municipal Corporation had to work very hard to free the aligarh pond from the rich people of the city. The soil worth lakhs of rupees that came out of the excavation of the same pond was sold through the JE and the contractor.
It is worth mentioning that the then Municipal Commissioner satya prakash Patel had freed the shakti Nagar pond from the illegal possession of the rich people of aligarh with great difficulty. A case was also registered against all of them in this matter. Since then, that pond was doing the work of water conservation.
Soil worth lakhs was sold
In the meantime, when the government made a plan to modernize the ponds, the Municipal Corporation included the ponds of Guler Road and shakti Nagar in this project. After this, the shakti Nagar pond was excavated up to several feet. Several trolleys of soil came out in this excavation. Tractors and trolleys were deployed to make this valuable soil disappear overnight. This business was going on for about twenty days and hundreds of trolleys of soil were sold. As soon as the opposition came to know about this, there was an uproar. This issue was raised by the opposition in the meeting of the corporation board. It is reported that soil from here was dumped on the land of an honorable person, the value of which is said to be in lakhs.
