Relations with india strengthened, ICET dialogue launched...

The white house said on wednesday (January 15, 2025) that during the impressive four-year tenure of outgoing President Joe Biden, the US "strengthened" its relationship with india and launched important initiatives like the ICET dialogue and the Quad.

In a briefing document highlighting some of the key achievements of the Joe Biden administration, the white house said Biden's diplomacy strengthened the US economic and security partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region both bilaterally and multilaterally, making it more secure. Joe Biden (82) will complete his four-year term as the 46th President of the united states on january 20, when donald trump (78) will be sworn in as the 47th President of the country.

The briefing document said that over the past four years, Biden revitalized the US alliance and partnership network in the Indo-Pacific through the US-Japan-South Korea, US-Japan-Philippines and Australia-UK-US (AUKUS) trilateral partnerships and the Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) and IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework) and "strengthened" Washington's relationship with india, Indonesia, Vietnam, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and Pacific Island countries.

Referring to the Afghan war, the briefing document credited Biden with ending the longest war in US history. It also said that Biden supported Ukraine, which was facing Russia's illegal and unprovoked invasion, enabling it to protect its freedom and democracy and dismiss speculation that it would collapse in a few days.

According to the briefing document, Joe Biden mobilized more than 50 countries in favor of Ukraine, providing it with the economic and financial assistance it needed to protect its territorial integrity and imposing the toughest multilateral sanctions ever imposed on Russia. It said that President Biden and prime minister Narendra Modi announced the US-India Dialogue on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) in May 2022 to enhance and expand strategic technology partnerships and defense industrial cooperation between the governments, businesses and academic institutions of the two countries.

According to the briefing document, 'Biden elevated the Quad to the top leader level with Australia, india and japan and hosted two historic summits with Pacific Island countries.' The Quad is a diplomatic partnership between Australia, india, Japan and the United States, committed to supporting a stable, free, prosperous and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The briefing document said, "The Biden administration strengthened America's competitive position against china and took historic steps to fulfill the US strategy of 'invest, align and compete.'"
