This seat has emerged as a strong fort for the aam aadmi party in the last three elections.
Vikaspuri assembly constituency is one of the 70 assembly constituencies of the capital delhi and it is considered a posh area in the areas falling under West delhi lok sabha seat. Apart from Vikaspuri, this lok sabha seat includes nine other assembly constituencies - Uttam Nagar, Rajouri Garden, hari Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri, Matiala, Dwarka, Madipur and Najafgarh.
Vikaspuri seat came into existence after delimitation in the year 2008. In the first election here, the congress candidate defeated the bjp candidate by a narrow margin. But, in the three consecutive elections after this, the aam aadmi party has dominated here, while the bjp remained the second largest party here.
Trust expressed on Yadav for the fourth time
Aam Aadmi Party's Mahinder Yadav has won three consecutive elections from 2013 to 2020. This time also aam aadmi party has made Mahinder Yadav its candidate, while bjp, yearning for its first victory from here, has given ticket to Pankaj Kumar Singh, while congress, wanting to make a comeback here, has made Advocate Jitendra Solanki its candidate.

Vikaspuri has a total of 4,62,000 voters and in terms of voters, it is the largest assembly constituency in Delhi. There are 2,47,575 male voters, 2,14,555 female voters and 54 third gender voters. A mixed population lives here. people from all sections of society live in Vikaspuri, but mostly people from Purvanchal, Jat, Tyagi community live here.
