Delhiites have shown generosity in donating to political parties. Delhiites are among the highest donors to political parties, amounting to Rs 276 crore. This has been revealed in the report submitted by political parties to the election Commission.
The Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) has said in its report that six national parties, including congress and bjp, received a total of Rs 850 crore in election donations in the year 2022-23. Of these, Rs 276 crore was donated by Delhiites alone, while election donations of Rs 160 crore from gujarat and Rs 96 crore from maharashtra have come to the political parties. Political parties received donations of Rs 92 and Rs 52 crore from karnataka and West Bengal.
bjp tops in political donation recipients
According to the ADR report, bjp is at the top in political donation recipients. The party has received donations worth Rs 719 crore. congress received Rs 79 crore and aam aadmi party received Rs 37 crore. Out of these, Rs 680 crore was donated by corporates to political parties. Private individuals donated Rs 166 crore to political parties. However, after the release of this report, it has become clear that the citizens of delhi have recently made a significant contribution in election donations.
Regional parties also received huge election donations
The remaining Rs 150 crore donations have been received from other states and union territories. The special thing is that this report also says that information about where the political parties received the donation of Rs 52 crore has not been provided.
