Former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's nomination from New delhi Assembly has been accepted. The Returning Officer has rejected all the objections and considered the nomination as correct. bjp candidate from New delhi seat parvesh verma had complained against Arvind Kejriwal's nomination. He had written a letter to the election commission with evidence in this regard.
Pravesh Verma had accused arvind kejriwal of giving wrong information regarding income, not mentioning the FIR in the affidavit and also having his name in the voter list in Ghaziabad. In a complaint to the Returning Officer, Pravesh Verma had said that kejriwal has shown less income from 2019 to 2023 than the basic salary of a delhi minister per month.

Pravesh Verma also claimed that in the affidavit, kejriwal has not mentioned the criminal case registered against him at the North Avenue police Station. However, these objections have been rejected by the election Commission. Pravesh Verma is the bjp candidate from New delhi seat who is standing against Kejriwal. Since the announcement of the candidature, kejriwal and Pravesh have been at loggerheads.
Scrutiny of nomination papers is being done today
A total of 1522 candidates filed nominations in delhi till 17 January. Scrutiny of nomination papers is going on today (18 January). According to the information updated on the website of the election commission of india till 5 pm, out of 1522, 581 nominations were accepted while 303 were rejected. The rest are being scrutinized. The last date for withdrawal of nominations in delhi is 20 January. elections will be held on 5 february and the results will be declared on 8 February.
