Farmer leader jagjit singh Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for more than 50 days. 121 farmers who were on a hunger strike in his support at Khanauri border withdrew their indefinite strike on Sunday. Actually, jagjit singh Dallewal agreed to medical aid after which the farmers broke their fast. He was refusing to take medical aid since he sat on a hunger strike on 26 November. According to a PTI report, however, on friday the Centre invited him for talks on 14 february regarding the demands of the farmers, after which Dallewal agreed to take medical aid. A group of 111 farmers started a hunger strike on 15 january due to Dallewal's deteriorating health and the government not accepting their demands. On 17 january, 10 more farmers started a protest. Farmers broke their fast in front of police officers

These 121 farmers broke their fast by drinking juice in front of Deputy police Inspector General Mandeep Singh Sidhu and patiala Senior police Superintendent Nanak Nanak Singh.

A high-level team led by Joint Secretary of the Union Agriculture Ministry priya Ranjan met farmer leader Dallewal and representatives of the United Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha on Saturday. They were invited to resume talks in Chandigarh.

Dallewal will not break his fast

After the proposed meeting was announced, Dallewal agreed to take medical help. He is being given intravenous drip. However, he will not end his fast until he gets a legal guarantee of MSP on crops. There was a deadlock between the farmers and the Center for about a year. Farmers are stuck at the Shambhu and Khanauri border adjoining Punjab-Haryana. Farmers have been adamant on their demands at the Shambhu border for a year. He tried to march towards delhi again but haryana police stopped him at the border.
