The noise of election campaign for 100 municipal bodies in uttarakhand will stop from 5 pm on Tuesday, january 21. Now candidates will only be able to do door-to-door campaigning. More than 30 lakh voters will exercise their franchise on january 23 in these civic elections. According to State election Commissioner Sushil Kumar, election campaigning has been stopped 48 hours before voting. This rule has been implemented to make the election process peaceful and fair. After 5 pm on Tuesday, all candidates can campaign only through personal contact.

A total of 5405 candidates are trying their luck in the elections. These include 72 candidates for the post of mayor in 11 municipal corporations, 445 candidates for the post of president in 89 municipalities and nagar Panchayats and 4888 candidates for the posts of councilor and ward member. The State election commission has made extensive preparations for these elections. A total of 30,29,000 voters will exercise their franchise. 1515 polling stations and 3394 polling booths have been set up for voting. 16,284 election personnel and 25,800 security personnel have been deployed for the election process. Also, 846 light and 572 heavy vehicles have been arranged for the movement of polling parties.

Control rooms set up to monitor voting

The first phase of training of election personnel has already been completed. The second phase of training will be completed on Tuesday. Polling parties will be dispatched on Wednesday. A control room has also been set up to monitor the voting process. The State election Commissioner has made it clear that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated during the elections. Strict security arrangements have been made to make the election process peaceful and transparent. Special surveillance will be kept on sensitive and ultra-sensitive polling stations. Along with the deployment of security forces, monitoring will also be done through CCTV cameras and webcasting.
