Preparations are being made to further expand the metro network in lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. After getting permission from the Public Investment Board, the work of the much-awaited first phase will start soon. Along with this, UP Metro rail Corporation (UPMRC) has prepared a blueprint to build six new corridors. Which will increase the connectivity of the entire city. Under this scheme, 6.450 km long line from Munshipulia to Jankipuram will be expanded. Along with this, a 17.16 km line from IIM to Rajajipuram, 8.855 km from Charbagh to SGPGI and a 3.480 km metro corridor to connect Indira nagar to atal bihari vajpayee Ekana Stadium are included. It is expected that UPMRC will start work on these projects from this year itself.
Preparations for building six new corridors are in full swing
Apart from these four metro corridors, the corporation has studied two more new routes. It is believed that work on these can start by the year 2030. These two lines include a 16.470 km line from Ekana Stadium to Chaudhary charan singh International airport and a 9.246 km corridor from secretariat to CG City South.
In Phase-1B, the East-West Corridor, which is to be extended from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj by 11.165 km, is awaiting approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB). It is believed that it will soon get the green signal from the board. 4.286 km of this corridor will be elevated and the remaining 6.879 km will be built underground.
If all these projects are completed as per the plan, then the total metro network of lucknow will be 79.976 km. Due to which the transport system of the entire city will be strengthened and connectivity from one place to another will increase. According to a Metro official, UPMRC has submitted a draft in this regard to senior officials and ministers, and their attitude towards it is positive. With the construction of these corridors, more than 3 lakh passengers will be able to travel daily.
