The delhi high court has made an important comment on marital relationships. The high court said that it is not necessary that only women suffer mental pain or physical cruelty. Many times men also have to suffer in marital relationships. Therefore, men also have full right to get protection under the law like women. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of delhi high court, while giving an important verdict on january 22, said, "Just as women get protection from violence and cruelty in a marital relationship, men also have the right to get equal protection like women."

Justice Sharma made this comment while giving the verdict on the anticipatory bail plea of a woman. Actually, the woman is accused of burning her husband by throwing boiling water mixed with chilli powder on him.

'This argument is based on a gender bias'

During the hearing, the woman had asked the court to take a lenient approach towards her and argued that she is a woman. On this, the court said that this argument is based on a gender bias. The delhi high court has also said that empowerment and protection of a gender cannot be at the cost of fairness towards the other gender.

'Life and dignity are equally precious'

Justice Sharma said in his order, "If a woman causes such an injury that endangers someone's life, then no special class can be created for her. Crimes related to physical injuries that pose a threat to life should be dealt with strictly, whether the criminal is a man or a woman, because the life and dignity of every person, irrespective of gender, is equally precious." The woman is accused of allegedly pouring boiling water mixed with chilli on her sleeping husband on january 1. This caused serious injuries to her husband's chest, eyes and neck. After this, the accused woman locked her seriously injured husband in his room from outside and fled from the spot.
