Modi government will give a gift to the farmers!

Amidst the ongoing farmers' agitation, the Parliamentary Committee has suggested to the government to increase the limit of amount given to the farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana from Rs 6000 annually to Rs 12000 annually. The Standing Committee headed by Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, has submitted its recommendations to the government.

Recommendation to increase PM Kisan nidhi to Rs 12000

On Tuesday, 17 december 2024, Charanjit Singh Channi presented the first Demand for Grants of the 18th lok sabha regarding the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in the Lok Sabha. In this report, the Standing Committee of parliament attached to the Ministry of Agriculture Welfare has recommended doubling the limit of the amount given to the farmers under the PM Kisan Samman nidhi Yojana. The report said, the committee recommends that the limit of the amount given under the PM Kisan Samman Yojana should be increased from Rs 6000 to Rs 12000 annually.

Farmers will get a gift in the budget!                        

This is not the first time that the government has been asked to increase the amount of assistance given to farmers under the PM Kisan Nidhi. For the last several years, representatives of farmers have also made this demand before the Finance minister in the pre-budget meeting. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget for 2025-26 on february 1, 2025. There is speculation that the limit of the amount given under PM Kisan Samman nidhi may be announced in the budget after the recommendation received from the parliamentary committee.
