Chandrashekhar azad on the incident of expelling a girl student!
A very insensitive incident came to light in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, where a girl student who had come to take the exam was thrown out of the class for asking for sanitary pads and the teachers sent her home without helping her. Chandrashekhar azad, mp from Nagina lok sabha seat, has strongly objected to this incident and said that the respect of daughters and their needs should be our top priority. He said that this incident is not an insult to a girl student but to the entire society, which can raise many serious questions. The ASP mp said that 'This incident is not only shameful, but is the bitter truth of the insensitivity of our society and the failure of educational institutions. Menstruation is a natural physiological process, which needs to be understood and respected. In a school in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, a girl student was not only deprived of help at the time of her need, but she was also sent home with humiliation and helplessness. This is reprehensible and unacceptable and is a direct denial of responsibility of the school.'
Chandrashekhar Azad's demand
He raised questions on this incident and said that 'This incident raises serious questions.
1. Have schools and educational institutions understood the real objective of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao"?
2. Are daughters getting an environment that takes care of their dignity and needs along with education?
3. Has the benefit of this campaign remained limited to papers and slogans only?
Our strong demands:
1. Concrete steps should be taken to ensure the safety and dignity of daughters in educational institutions. Availability of sanitary pads in all schools and a sensitive complaint redressal mechanism should be made mandatory.
2. Special programs should be organized to make teachers, students and parents aware of topics like menstruation.
3. Under the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" campaign, the accountability of educational institutions should be fixed, so that such incidents do not recur.
4. Immediate and strict action should be taken against the guilty principal and teachers, so that a strong message is sent to those who play with the rights and dignity of daughters.
This incident is not just an insult to a girl student. It is an embarrassment for the entire society. The objective of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" will remain incomplete till the daughters do not get their basic needs and respect. This campaign cannot remain limited to slogans; it has to become a means of bringing real change in the life of every daughter.
It is time that we do not limit our promises to just words, but convert it into concrete action. The respect of daughters and their needs should be our top priority.
