Delhi Police's big action against liquor smugglers!
The South West district police team has taken a big action before the delhi Assembly elections and recovered Rs 83 lakh illegal cash from a car, while six illegal liquor smugglers have also been arrested. From whose possession the police have recovered 19 full bottles, 07 half bottles and 838 quarter bottles of illegal liquor along with a scooty and a motorcycle. Apart from this, the police have arrested 22 people for drinking alcohol in public, while 432 people have been detained.
Rs 83 lakh brought to spend in elections seized
DCP Surendra Chaudhary said that in view of the delhi Assembly elections, a joint picket has been deployed with SST at Aruna Asaf ali Marg, Kishangarh to keep an eye on the illegal supply of money and liquor. Where during the checking of vehicles last night, a Scorpio car was stopped in which three people were riding. A bag was also lying in the car. Finding it suspicious, the police personnel checked the bag. Several bundles of 500 and 100 rupee notes worth Rs 83 lakh were recovered from it.
During interrogation, they could not provide any valid documents or explanation regarding carrying such a huge amount of cash. They were identified as Vikas, sumit and Parvesh. All of them are residents of Jind and rohtak districts of Haryana. All of them were handed over to the Income Tax Department along with the cash.
Six smugglers arrested with illegal liquor
On the other hand, police teams of various police stations of the district have arrested a total of six illegal liquor smugglers in separate operations, who have been identified as Ratnesh Kumar, narendra Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Rajendra Singh, Iqbal and Joginder Nagia. They are residents of delhi, UP and Bihar. A case has been registered against them in South Campus, Vasant Kunj North, Vasant Kunj South, Kapashera and Palam village police stations. Illicit liquor bottles have been recovered from all of them, which were smuggled to be consumed during the elections.
