A case became registered against Gopalakrishnan, former iisc director Balaram and sixteen others below the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act. The complainant alleged that he became subjected to casteist abuse and threats.

He similarly said that he is related to the institute on the grounds that 2022 while the case dates back to 2014.

"I've been associated with iisc as Chairman of the Council considering that 2022, whilst the alleged incidents date returned to 2014. IISC has clean policies for fair and transparent investigations, which are in the purview of the government control," the declaration said.
