The government has issued a helpline number in the case of stampede on the festival of Mauni Amavasya in maha Kumbh. Helpline number 1920 has been issued by the fair administration on behalf of the devotees. Information regarding the injured can be obtained on this number.
Fair Officer Vijay kiran Anand and DIG maha Kumbh Vaibhav krishna held a press briefing. He told that in Brahma Muhurta, the crowd of devotees had moved towards Sangam Nose. The crowd started increasing between 1:00 am and 2:00 am. Devotees were sleeping on the ground after breaking some barricades of the arena. He told that other devotees climbed on them in a hurry, due to which the devotees sleeping below were crushed. Immediately a green corridor was created and about 90 injured were taken to the hospital through ambulance, but unfortunately 30 devotees died out of it. Five dead are yet to be identified.
What else did the officials say?
It was told that four devotees are from Karnataka, one from assam and one from Gujarat. 36 injured are being treated at SRN Hospital of Medical College. The relatives of some injured have gone home. According to DIG Mahakumbh Vaibhav Krishna, the situation in Mahakumbh mela is normal. cm Yogi Adityanath has spoken to all Shankaracharyas, Mahamandaleshwars and Akharas and has requested that everyone should participate in this Amrit Snan. After this, Amrit Snan has been done by Pujya Shankaracharyas and Akharas keeping in view the convenience of the devotees.
The two officials said that today's Amrit Snan was completed safely. Today on Mauni Amavasya, the government had given strict instructions that there will be no VIP protocol. There will be no VIP protocol in the main bathing festivals in future also. Fair Officer Vijay kiran Anand has expressed deep condolences to the dead. He has said that now the priority is to send back safely the people who have come to Mahakumbh mela after bathing them.
