Two devotees died in maha Kumbh stampede, Akhilesh said - this is a crime!
With the death of two more people from West bengal in the stampede at maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the death toll from the state has risen to four. Amiya Saha (28) of Baishnabnagar area of Malda district and Binod Ruidas (35) of Jamuria in West Bardhaman were also among the 30 devotees who died in the stampede in the Sangam area of the maha Kumbh in the early hours. Their family members gave this information.
On Thursday, the families of two women - Basanti Poddar of the city's golf Green area and urmila Bhuiyan of Salbani in West Medinipur district - claimed that they died due to the stampede while bathing on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on Wednesday. Saha's father told reporters on friday that his son, who was a primary school teacher, was injured in the stampede. He alleged that he was left without treatment for some time in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. Amiya Saha's father claimed that his son later died, but the Uttar Pradesh administration "did not issue a death certificate" while handing over the body, which delayed the post-mortem.
Now Samajwadi party chief akhilesh yadav also commented on this matter. Sharing a newspaper clipping, Akhilesh wrote on social media site X - Hiding the truth of accidents, statistics is actually hiding evidence, this is a crime.

Ruidas' brother also alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government did not issue a "proper" death certificate. Meanwhile, family members of nine devotees from the state claimed that they are still missing after the stampede.
