The three-member judicial commission constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the Mahakumbh stampede reached the spot at Sangam Nose in Prayagraj on friday and took information from the officials. After this, the members of the commission questioned the injured admitted in SRN Hospital. The commission, headed by retired allahabad High court judge Justice Harsh Kumar, includes former director General of police VK Gupta and retired IAS officer DK Singh.
An official said that the commission reached Sangam Nose in the afternoon where the stampede took place late tuesday night. mela Adhikari Vijay kiran Anand, DIG Vaibhav Krishna, SSP Rajesh Dwivedi and other officials present with the commission gave information to the members of the commission. The commission reached the city-based Swaroop rani Nehru Hospital from Sangam where the members of the commission gathered information about the situation by talking to the people injured in the stampede and their relatives. The commission returned to the Circuit house by 5 pm.

According to the police, this incident happened because the crowd broke the barricade and moved forward crushing the people sitting on the ghat on the other side. 30 people died in this incident, while 60 people were injured.
