Husband and wife arrested for cheating in the name of marriage!
The Crime Branch of delhi police has arrested a cunning husband and wife who used to cheat people in the name of marriage. This gang of husband and wife used to trap those people who were not getting married and also cheated them of huge amount in the name of marriage.
According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as rahul alias Deen Mohammad and his wife. Both of them were absconding for the last 5 years and the court had declared them fugitives. DCP Crime Branch Sanjay Sen said that an FIR was registered in Sultanpuri police station in the year 2019. According to the FIR, a couple along with their gang used to get fake marriages done. The gang members first identified those people who were looking for a girl for marriage. Then these people used to trap the victim by becoming relatives and middlemen of the girl. When a person agreed to marry, a huge amount was charged from him.
Such a crime has been committed earlier also
Apart from this, a victim told in the complaint that she was asked to become a part of this gang. But when she refused, she was forcibly married to a person from haryana in a state of intoxication. Investigation revealed that this gang has committed similar crimes earlier as well.
Arrested from Jahangirpuri area
According to the police, the Inter State Cell of the Crime Branch received information that such a gang is active in delhi which is cheating in the name of marriage. The police team came to know that the accused who were absconding since 2019 are again trapping people in their trap. After this, the police laid a trap by becoming a fake customer. Head constable Surendra told himself to be looking for a girl for marriage and contacted the accused and as soon as the gang fell into the trap, the police arrested them from Jahangirpuri area on 31 january 2025.
During interrogation, the accused couple confessed that they were duping people in the name of marriage. They used to pretend to be the girl's brother and sister-in-law and lure them into getting married. In return, they used to charge up to Rs 70,000.
