Voting for the assembly elections in delhi is on february 5. Cash, narcotics and precious metals worth more than Rs 220 crore have been seized before the election. Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office gave this information on monday (February 4, 2025).
On the last day of election campaign, the CEO said that the seized items include narcotics worth Rs 88 crore, precious metals worth Rs 81 crore and cash worth about Rs 40 crore. Voting in delhi is to be held on february 5, the result of which will come on february 8. At the same time, the CEO said that this seizure is four times more than the 2020 assembly elections, when the total seizure was only Rs 57.5 crore. He assured that the elections will be conducted in a 'free, fair and transparent' manner.
Thousands of complaints registered on 'C-Vigil'
The CEO said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), more than 7,500 complaints have been received on the 'C-Vigil' platform. Out of these, 7,467 complaints have been successfully resolved, while only 32 complaints are being worked on. This time the election commission has shown speed in resolving complaints. According to the report, in 90 percent of the cases, the complaints were resolved within just 100 minutes, which has increased the confidence of the voters.
Strict monitoring and tight security arrangements after seizure
The election commission has made tight security arrangements to ensure fair elections. The deployment of police force and paramilitary forces has been increased across the city. Special surveillance is being kept in sensitive areas, so that there is no disturbance of any kind. Check posts and monitoring teams have been activated to prevent the transportation of cash, liquor and illegal material. At the same time, the election commission says that the voters of delhi can exercise their franchise fearlessly.
