UGC shows strictness regarding ragging…

Despite having strict laws regarding ragging, ragging is not being stopped in medical colleges in ten states of the country including UP. The cases of ragging happening with students in colleges every day are very disturbing. Seeing this, the university Grants Commission i.e. UGC has expressed its displeasure. Along with this, the commission has issued notices to these colleges and asked why they have failed to stop ragging in their colleges. Why has ragging not been curbed here till now.

UGC has released the list of 18 medical colleges located in ten states of the country including UP, in which colleges ragging is still happening. This list has the name of a medical college of Uttar Pradesh. This is Dr. ram Manohar Lohia Medical college of the capital Lucknow, from where complaints of ragging have also come to light. UGC has also asked this college to explain why ragging has not been stopped there till now.

Apart from UP's Lohia Hospital, this list includes three colleges each from bihar and Andhra Pradesh. While two colleges each from Assam, Delhi, tamil Nadu, puducherry and one college each from Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, madhya pradesh and telangana are included. The major colleges among these are Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, Hamdard Medical college, Bihar's Madhubani Medical college, Katihar Medical college, government Medical college Bettiah and Bundelkhand Medical College.

Let us tell you that ragging is a serious problem in many colleges of the country, due to which students often have to suffer mental and physical torture. Due to which many times students have even committed suicide due to depression. In view of these incidents, the government has made strict laws against ragging so that it can be curbed. The effect of these laws has also been seen. Ragging in college is a crime. There is even a provision of punishment for this. Despite this, such incidents are still seen secretly in many colleges.
