Maharashtra politics boils over 'egg', opposition targets!

Children of government and aided schools in maharashtra will not get eggs and sugar. Funds for eggs and sweets have been stopped in school nutrition diet. The state government has issued an order to stop eggs and sweets available in school nutrition diet. The government has now made it clear that additional funds will not be given for eggs and sugar. There has also been a political reaction to the government's decision. uddhav faction's shiv sena mla aditya thackeray called the decision a policy of greedy leaders.

At the same time, Sharad Pawar's ncp mla Jitendra Awhad criticized the government. He called the decision harmful to the physical and mental health of the students. He says that giving eggs and other nutritious substances in school nutrition diet was necessary for the development of the students. Let us tell you that on 7 november 2023, the state government had issued an order stating that it has been decided to give eggs once a week to provide nutritious food to the students.

The order also said that five rupees per egg would be spent. However, now the government has made it clear that there will be no additional funds for eggs and sugar. Instead, efforts have been asked to raise funds through public participation. Under the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Poshan shakti Nirman Yojana, school nutrition diet is provided to students from first to eighth class in various schools.

What will be included in the diet?

Under this scheme, students from first to fifth class are provided 450 calories and 12 grams of protein, while students from sixth to eighth class are provided 700 calories and 20 grams of protein. The state government has approved 12 food items under the school nutrition diet. The list includes vegetable pulao, masala bhaat, matar pulao, moong dal khichdi, chawali khichdi, chana pulao, soyabean pulao, mussoorie pulao, moong shevga varan bhaat, twisted matki usal, egg pulao and sweet khichdi or nachni sattva. These food items have been fixed for different days in a week and students will be given different dishes in two weeks.
