The condition of electricity supply in UP is very bad!
The condition of electricity supply in the villages of Uttar Pradesh is the worst. The situation is such that UP is getting less electricity supply than the neighbouring states of bihar, rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. UP is at the second position from the bottom in this list, while Nagaland has the least number of villages getting electricity. The UP State electricity Consumer Council has raised this issue of the least electricity being available in the villages of UP. Due to which the reality of the electricity system in UP has been exposed.
UP electricity Consumer Council President Awadhesh Kumar Verma has raised the issue of less electricity being provided in the villages. He claimed that if Nagaland is left out, the least electricity is being supplied in the rural areas of UP. While in the neighbouring state of bihar also electricity is provided to more villages than in UP. He said that the UP Power Corporation management should leave the process of privatization of electricity and first work towards providing full amount of electricity in the villages like other states.
Worst condition of power supply in UP
The council claimed that under the energy law of the government of India, all urban and rural consumers, except agricultural feeders, should get 24-hour electricity in all states. But after Nagaland, UP is the only state which is able to provide the least electricity in rural areas. For this, the corporation should apologize to the rural consumers under the Consumer Rights Rule 2020 of the country that justice is not being done to them.
Awadhesh Verma, citing the data of power supply in rural areas placed on the rajya sabha table on february 3, said that in the rural areas of other states of the country, on an average 21-23 hours of electricity is being supplied daily, whereas in Uttar Pradesh only 18.1 hours of electricity is being supplied daily. These figures are being told till march 2024.
According to the data, Nagaland has the lowest power supply in the country, 18 hours in rural areas and 20 hours in cities per day. Whereas UP villages get electricity for 18.1 hours and cities get electricity for 23.4 hours. bihar villages get electricity for 22.2 hours and urban areas for 23.6 hours, uttarakhand rural areas get electricity for 21.4 hours and urban areas for 23.7 hours per day. Similarly, in other states like Madhya Pradesh, rajasthan and Gujarat, rural areas are getting electricity for 21-23 hours.
