The yogi adityanath government has made major changes in the excise policy regarding liquor in Uttar Pradesh. Under which now all types of liquor, desi, foreign, beer, all will be available at one place. In the new policy, these shops will be given licenses through e-lottery system and the old license will not be renewed. The new excise policy 2025-26 has been approved in the cabinet meeting held on wednesday under the chairmanship of cm Yogi.

Through the new excise policy, the state government has set a target of raising revenue of Rs 55 thousand crore. Which is Rs 4000 crore more than last time. In this, there will be an annual fee of Rs 25 lakh for renewal of license of premium retail shops, no person, firm or company will be able to take more than two licenses. According to media reports, this time for the first time licenses will also be issued to composite shops. In which desi, foreign, beer and wine will be available at one place.

Many changes made in the new excise policy

Under the new excise policy, premium brand shops will not be allowed in malls, multiplex areas. But premium retail shops will be able to open at airports, metro and railway stations after getting no objection from the competent level. The compulsion of their main gate being inside the building has also been abolished. Not only this, from now on, foreign liquor can also be sold in 60 and 90 ml bottles.

Along with this, the facility of personal home license has been made easy to buy more liquor within the prescribed retail limit for personal use. For this, an annual fee of Rs 11 thousand and security of Rs 11 thousand will have to be paid. This license will be given only to those who deposit their income tax continuously for three years and will also have to file income tax return. Along with this, in the new policy, country liquor will now also be available in aseptic bridge packs. Due to which the possibility of adulteration in liquor will end.
